Gulf Harbour School

Doug Muller

Doug Muller I have lived in the Gulf Harbour area for almost 10 years now, ever since my wife and I moved out from England in 2007. We very quickly decided that New Zealand was the place for us and chose to start a family. We now have two girls; Zoe and Lucy, 7 & 4 respectively. Zoe is currently in year 3 at Gulf Harbour and Lucy will be starting at the end of this year.

I have a lot of experience in education, which I think makes me suitable for this role. I have been a Science teacher for 18 years; 8 years in England and 10 years in New Zealand. I have had many roles in my teaching career including being a year 11 Dean, a mentor to student teachers, a Head of Physics and I am currently Head of Science at Wentworth College just down the road.

I am still very passionate about education and I feel incredibly fortunate to play such a central role in the teaching and guiding of tomorrow’s citizens. It is very obvious to me that education is the single most important aspect of a modern society.

When it came time to choose a school for Zoe, Gulf Harbour was one of very few schools who were clear about their ethos and priorities. I respected that and I have been very happy with Zoe’s schooling at Gulf Harbour School so far and I am excited about Lucy starting there too.
