Enrolling Your Child At GHS

Enrolment Policy and Procedure

Gulf Harbour School has a geographical zone and an out of zone enrolment process.

New Entrant Enrolments

Starting school for the first time is an important event in your families life, especially if it is your first child to start school.
In order to make the transition to school life easy and comfortable, you are invited to bring your child for school visits prior to their starting date.

Online Enrolment

Complete the online enrolment form.

Your child will them be placed onto our pre-enrolment database. You then need to make an appointment to meet with the principal prior to starting and to provide the necessary documentation to the school office.

Or
Contact the school reception with details of your child's name and birthday, to enable us to put them onto our pre-enrolment database. You will receive a pack in the post prior to their birthday containing all enrolment forms and a detailed letter with their pre visit dates. Please complete the forms and bring along either their birth certificate or passport to be photocopied.

At the visits you and your child will have a chance to become familiar with the environment, routines, staff and other children.

At Gulf Harbour School we have two intakes of children every term.

Children can only start school if they are 5 years old.  It is not compulsory for children to start school at 5 and parents have the option of starting their child at  school any start date up until the age of 6. Please email Gill Steel at g.steel@ghs.school.nz for more information.

Pre School Visits

Both pre school visits are generally on a Friday unless otherwise stated and run from 9.15 - 10.30am. We ask that parents stay and enjoy these sessions with your child.

The aim of this induction programme is to prepare preschoolers for school in the best possible way and to help you and your child to understand the culture here at Gulf Harbour School and what life will be like in our learning environment.

Meeting with the Junior Team Leader, Principal and class teacher, along with a school tour, is part of the induction programme.
